New Teachers

Melissa Merrill
My name is Melissa Merrill and I will be the new Art teacher at School No. 4! I am so excited and grateful to be a part of the Fort Lee Community, working with the students, parents and staff to create a positive learning experience. I graduated from William Paterson University in 2007 with a BA in Fine Arts and have ten years of experience teaching Art from Kindergarten to 12th grade. I am married and have a very energetic toddler and dog. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion with our students as we explore the elements and principles of art this school year!

Mai Koyo
My name is Mai Koyo, and I am very excited to be teaching ESL at School No. 4! This is my first year in the Fort Lee School DIstrict, but I have taught ESL for over ten years. To briefly introduce myself, I grew up here in Bergen County and graduated with my B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers University. I then received my M.A. from Teachers College in teaching English as a Second Language. I’m the third generation of teachers in my family and a child of immigrant parents, so I knew from early on that I wanted to become a teacher and help those who don't know the language just yet. I am also passionate about making all content accessible and engaging for all learners. When I’m not at school, I enjoy reading, baking and taking care of my new Corgi puppy. I look forward to meeting and working with all of you. Let’s have a great year!

I was born and raised in Hudson County and am proud to still call it home! I am married and have two daughters. I look forward to working with you this year.
